Thank you for your interest in this study.
Of the millions of people living with Systemic Lupus
Erythematosus (SLE), an estimated one-third also develop Lupus
Nephritis (LN), a related disorder marked by inflammation of
the kidney. Although
there are treatments for LN that include the use of immunosuppressive
and cytotoxic medications (in conjunction with corticosteroids),
new investigational options are being explored. Doctors
are currently conducting a medical research study to evaluate
an investigational medication’s ability to bring Lupus Nephritis under control in SLE patients, and then maintain it.
About the Investigational Medication
Today researchers are evaluating an alternative, investigational medication
to determine if it can control Lupus Nephritis and then maintain control
of the disease. The investigational medication has already been approved
by some National Drug Regulatory Authorities (like the FDA or EMEA) for
other uses. Currently, the investigational medication has not been approved
for the treatment of LN by any national drug regulatory authority. |
